On October 23, City Council Candidate Sandra Ung visited KAAGNY headquarters and met with President Charles Yoon to discuss issues that are important to the Korean American community. During their meeting, State Committeewoman Ung discussed ways to help local small businesses and also expressed opposition to the abolition of the SHSAT exam (a standardized entrance exam for specialized high schools in New York City.) President Yoon and State Committeewoman Ung also discussed issues of racism, stressing the importance of education and citing language barriers and lack of communication as major issues in the community.

Back in July 2020, Sandra Ung announced her candidacy for the 20th City Council District. If elected, Sandra Ung, an attorney and special assistant to Congresswoman Grace Meng, will be the first Asian-American woman to represent Flushing in the New York City Council.
